General Responsibility

AAG have an opportunity for an Interim Quality Assurance Manager in a challenging, fast-paced and rewarding aviation environment. Our aim as a team is to attract and develop key talent across all levels of our growing aviation business. The role of the Quality Assurance Manager, reporting to the Senior Quality and Safety Manager is to be the unique focal point for the development, administration, and maintenance of the organisation’s Aviation safety management system (SMS).

Essential Job Function

In this position you will report directly to the Senior Compliance Monitoring Manager and are responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining the Compliance Monitoring Program for Part 145, Part 147, Part CAMO & Part 21.
  • Ensuring national and foreign aviation regulations are observed and implemented appropriately.
  • Liaising with competent NAA aviation authorities.
  • Management of findings and non-compliance reports.
  • Monitoring the implementation of a corrective action plan and conduct a follow up to ensure compliance.
  • Ensuring that the quality department adequately monitors the total Atlantic Aviation Group activity for compliance with the relevant EASA and N.A.A requirements, as directed through this MOE and associated Supplements by following the approved policies and using techniques that deliver objective, measurable results.
  • Fulfilling all stages of the audit process including: scope, objectives, follow-up and closing.
  • Auditing of aircraft component technicians for the purpose of certification, auditing validity of equipment and tools calibration.
  • Assessment and monitoring of third party contracted (or sub-contracted) service providers and suppliers to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Co-ordinating actions on airworthiness occurrences, associated investigations including establishing preventive actions and feedback from maintenance incidents/issues, feeding this back into the continuation training program.
  • Drafting and validating organisational standard practices and procedures, ensuring their adequacy in respect of regulatory requirements and Bilateral maintenance agreements including and any amendments to these Regulation.
  • Maintaining and controlling changes to the organisational approved component capability List.
  • Maintaining and controlling changes to the approved Part Fabrication list.
  • Issue, renewal, cancellation of certifying staff authorisations, ensuring the procedures defined in Part 3.4 of this M.O.E. and the requirements of Part 145, regarding the activities and responsibilities of the Approvals Board are satisfied.
  • Compliance monitoring to ensure that all technical training is to acceptable standards in conjunction with current airworthiness requirements.
  • Planning quality monitoring compliance function man-hours requirements in accordance with the Q.S.P.M. Section 2.1.
  • Oversight and management of Health, Safety and Environment controls.

Candidate Requirements

The applicant should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • An understanding of management systems, including the role compliance monitoring in the aviation environment.
  • An understanding of risk management.
  • Leadership skills in directing, delegation and supervision.
  • An understanding of safety investigation techniques and root cause methodologies.
  • An understanding of Human Factors and Human Performance.
  • Understanding and promotion of a positive compliance and safety culture;
  • Knowledge of auditing techniques including: planning, conducting and reporting.
  • Must possess confident and effective interpersonal communication skills when dealing with colleagues, internal & external customers and authorities.
  • Ability to communicate and to present information clearly and concisely both verbal and written, with attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and to take responsibility
  • Flexible approach to work, to match the operational requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office and comfortable learning new operating systems.
  • Willingness to occasional travel.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working within Part 145, Part M, Part 147 and Part 21 regulated environments is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EASA/FAA and 3rd country regulations.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position;
  • A relevant engineering degree or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification with additional education that is acceptable to the competent authority. ‘Relevant engineering degree’ means an engineering degree from aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionic or other studies that are relevant to the maintenance and/or continuing airworthiness of aircraft/aircraft components;

Typical Working Conditions

  • Primarily based in Shannon however travel is a requirement of the role
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and overtime, may be required
  • Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements
