The role of the Planning Manager is to lead, mentor, coach and develop the necessary to support the Planning Department to meet the requirements of AAG.

Duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

General Responsibility

  • Lead the planning team in the delivery of a high-quality planning service to the operation. This includes the creation of work packs, project budgets and projects plan to support the customers work scope in a timely manner for the production and project stakeholders
  • Lead organise and measure and control the performance of the planning team in support of company goals and objectives
  • Support the senior leadership team in devising and implementing techniques to drive change throughout the business

Essential Job Function

As the Planning Manager you will be tasked with:

  • Ensures all projects are accurately planned based on the agreed customers work scope in the required time to allow all stakeholders have their allocated time for input to the project plan
  • Ensures that company procedure and quality standards are complied with when planning maintenance
  • Ensures the competence of all personnel within the planning department engaged in planning base maintenance, line maintenance and workshops by establishing a programme of training, qualification and competence using internal and external sources, OJT instruction/evaluation.
  • Co-ordinates and follows through on any corrective & preventive actions required, as appropriate to the manager’s responsibilities, resulting from internal audits undertaken.
  • Responsible for preparing a Planning Man-hour Plan and ensuring the availability of enough competent personnel to plan, perform, supervise work being performed in base maintenance planning including the necessary resources to support line maintenance activities
  • Responsible for ensuring that the master database of hours is kept updated and accurate to current best practise within the MRO
  • Works closely with the production schedulers to ensure manpower requirements are accurately planned and this information is available to the Resource planner and Production manager
  • Ensures that commercial awareness is employed with all planning and budget decisions made in the check planning process
  • Manages the Long-Term planner to ensure it is up to date and accurate for the purposes of capacity planning
  • Ensures that the planning team operates within AAG planning process standard work guidelines using the Planning App and Maintenance readiness indicator
  • Acts as a central figure within the operations team for the coordination of production planning capacity management and manpower planning to ensure the efficient use of available space and Production skillsets within the MRO
  • Liaises with the Sales manager to ensure hangar capacity and manpower availability are clear to the Sales team at all times
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and supports Lean initiatives within the Planning department and the planning process

Candidate Requirements

  • People focused approach to leadership tailoring your approach to achieve the best from the collective team
  • Strategic thinker and operator with a proven ability of linking departmental goals with the company objectives and deadlines.
  • Licenced Aircraft Engineer background (desirable)
  • Previous experience as Planning Manager or have extensive knowledge of running a planning department
  • Recognised management qualifications & several years’ management experience
  • Recognised qualifications and experience in continuous improvement, lean or operational excellence
  • Knowledge of the Aviation Regulations (EASA and FAA) is desirable
  • Proficient in use of MSOffice applications
  • Detail oriented with exceptional time management and multi-tasking ability
  • Excellent coordinating and organizational skills
  • Must be able to perform well under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and meet aggressive schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills,  teambuilding skills, and the ability to persuade others without creating adversarial relationships.
  • Works closely with project team members to resolve problems with assigned projects
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to manage and lead with respect and encouragement – recognising key contributions and adhering to our “Employee Orientated “culture

Typical Working Conditions

  • Primarily based in Shannon however travel is a requirement of the role
  • PPE is provided by Atlantic Aviation Group and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and overtime, may be required
  • Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements
