Can you tell me about yourself and your career so far?
I’ve been working in the aviation sector for nearly 4 years. My aviation career started with Ryanair back in 2016, then after a year, I moved on to CityJet where I continued in Maintenance (Heavy/Base) planning. I joined AAG 7 months ago, and since then I’ve worked in the planning department as a Long-Term Planner.
What inspired you to work in aviation?
I don’t know how it started, but I’ve always had an interest in the aviation sector, EASA basic regs (Part M, Part 145, Part 147, Part 21) and every aspect of the aviation industry. I wanted to become an AME, but I realised I had massive hands, I was afraid of heights and couldn’t fit into small open spaces.
Can you describe to me what it is like to work in your department/team?
It’s very busy and lively. Everyone is very helpful and will go the extra mile. Also, a lot of laughter.
What is a typical day at work for you? What are some of your favourite tasks to do?
My typical day at work would be reading aircraft maintenance manuals, dealing with issues from the ongoing check. I can’t say I’ve got any favourite task at the moment. Maybe in the future, I might.
What are the benefits of working in AAG?
The main benefit of working in AAG on the floor is having the aircraft sitting right next to you. There are other benefits like flexitime which is very helpful for me as I tend to work overtime.
What’s your favourite thing about working in AAG?
Sitting next to Pat O’Toole. Makes the day at work better.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To freeze time whenever it suits.
