Meet Andrea Rattigan, Commercial Buyer
Andrea joined the Atlantic Aviation Group team in 2017. Beginning her career in our Accounts department, Andrea has diversified her role in the business and spent time working in Facilities before moving to her current role as a Commercial Buyer in our Materials department. Her role involves buying the required materials to assist our team in ensuring the aircraft on-site return to service on time for our customers. We caught up with Andrea to learn more about her experience in Atlantic Aviation Group.
Can you tell me about yourself and your career so far? When did you join the team at Atlantic Aviation Group and how has your experience been?
I have a background in Finance, Accounts, and Purchasing prior to employment with AAG. I originally came to Atlantic Aviation Group as a temp to the Accounts Department. I have since also worked with the Facilities Department and I am now with the Materials Department. I have always enjoyed my experience working here at AAG.
What inspired you to work in aviation (Aircraft Maintenance/Design/CAMO/Training)?
I have always been closely connected to the Aviation industry as my father’s career was with one of the major Airlines where he eventually retired. Atlantic Aviation Group would be my first experience in working in Aviation.
Can you describe to me what it is like to work in your department/team?
I work with a dynamic team of Buyers, whose job is to make sure that the Aircrafts return to service is not delayed due to parts or supply issues. I work at buying everything non aircraft related that is needed here in our Hangar and at our Training Centre. Since I started in the Materials Department, I have had help and assistance from everyone as most of them started in this Department in a Commercial Buyer capacity.
What is a typical day at work for you? What are some of your favourite tasks to do/projects to work on?
A typical workday for me would be sending out Purchase Orders to suppliers and checking in commercial purchases. As my background is in Finance, Accounts, and Purchasing my favourite part of the job is projects, analysing trends and costs, and completing reports.
What are the benefits to working in AAG?
There are many benefits to working with AAG. One of the important benefits for me would be working at the Airport, it is an easy commute as I live less than 20 minutes away.
What’s your favourite thing about working in AAG?
I enjoy being actively part of a forward–thinking company that encourages their employees to be part of the solution when problem solving.
If you could have one super power what would it be?
My superpower would be to understand all languages.
