AAG have an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated career focused and ambitious Safety Manager seeking a role in a challenging, fast-paced and rewarding aviation environment. Our aim as a team is to attract and develop key talent across all levels of our growing aviation business. The role of the Safety Manager is to be the unique focal point for the development, administration, and maintenance of the organisation’s Aviation safety management system (SMS).

Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

Essential Job Function

Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment and management
Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks.
Provide periodic reports on safety performance to the Safety Review Board.
Ensure the maintenance of SMS safety management documentation
Ensure that there is safety training available, and that it meets acceptable standards
Provide advice on safety matters; and
Ensure the initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence investigations.
Demonstrates an excellent safety behaviour and attitude, promotes hazard reporting and ensures effective safety reporting.
Models and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safety practices through effective leadership.
Acts as an information conduit to bring safety issues to the attention of management and to deliver safety information to the organization’s staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
Assists in the continuous improvement of the hazard identification and safety risk assessment schemes and the organization’s SMS.
Analyses technical data for trends related to hazards, events and occurrences.
Measures the effectiveness and seeks to continually improve the quality of processes.

Candidate Requirements

Knowledge of ICAO standards and European requirements on safety management
An understanding of management systems, including compliance monitoring systems
An understanding of risk management
An understanding of safety investigation techniques and root cause methodologies
An understanding of Human Factors and Human Performance
Understanding and promotion of a positive safety culture
Operational experience related to Continuing Airworthiness (Part-CAMO, Part-M, Part-145)
Safety management experience
Data management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
High degree of integrity, interpersonal skill and the ability to build relationships
Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
A comprehensive knowledge of:
- relevant parts of operational requirements and procedures
Knowledge of:
- HF principles
- Safety management systems based on the EU management system requirements (including compliance monitoring) and ICAO Annex 19.
5 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position
A relevant engineering degree or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification with additional education that is acceptable to the competent authority. ‘Relevant engineering degree’ means an engineering degree from aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionic or other studies that are relevant to the maintenance and/or continuing airworthiness of aircraft/aircraft components
Knowledge of a relevant sample of the type(s) of aircraft gained through a formalised training course. These courses should be at least at a level equivalent to Part-66 Appendix III Level 1 General Familiarisation and could be provided by a Part-147 organisation, by the manufacturer, or by any other organisation accepted by the competent authority. ‘Relevant sample’ means that these courses should cover typical aircraft and aircraft systems that are within the scope of work.
Knowledge of the applicable regulations.
Acceptable to the IAA as the competent SMS Safety Manager.

Typical Working Conditions

Must satisfy and maintain the required medical standard.
Primarily based in Shannon however travel is a requirement of the role.
PPE is provided by AAG, and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work.
Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and overtime, may be required
